Choose your sit wisely
If you want to make sure you get some shuteye, make sure to book your flight with a company that offers a lot of leg space. This will allows you to be more comfortable and thus fall asleep. Additionally, the chair should recline to the right angles. Savvy travelers always ask for extra pillows, or bring their own. Most airlines also provide blankets over long flights, and this is an option to keep in mind. Even if you have to pay more for a good seat, in the end it will all be worth it. Choose one that you already know is comfortable enough.

Keep yourself extra comfortable
While you should not wear your pajamas on the plane, you can do a few things to increase your comfort. Change your clothes into more comfy ones, especially if you are going to attend a business event when you land. The suit can be replaced with jeans and a tshirt in order to get the sleep you need. Choose airy and light materials while flying, and change back into your business attire before landing.

Pay attention to details
If you wear a baseball cap you will be able to sleep better. Bring your headphones with you to muffle the noise, and perhaps spray a little lavender on your pillow. These small things will increase your comfort and remind you of your own bed. Plus, it will be easier to not pay attention to anyone eating a hamburger next to you. If you are used to reading, bring your favorite book and browse a few pages.

Stay away from the TV
Watching TV may sound like a good idea if you are bored, but not when you are trying to sleep. The TV shows will only tire your eyes and mind without helping much. Put your headphones on and listen to some chill out music instead. It will help you relax and perhaps get some sleep. You should also avoid drinking or eating too much when you are on board. The space is limited, and falling asleep on a full stomach in not very comfortable. Stay away from any caffeinated drinks and choose a herbal tea or plain water.

Don't engage in any small talk
If you have a big event coming up and you need your rest, chatting with the person next to you is not the best idea. You don't have to be rude about it, but politely mention you need rest. If you really want to be left alone, you can always pretend you are playing a game or reading a book. Most people will get the message and not bother you any longer.
