Business trips don't always need to be formal. You can get the work done, but also have fun on your trip. Here are 10 tips for business travelers, and how to relax without hurting your business.

Manage your time well
Take a few days off for yourself during your next trip. If you have to attend a meeting in a popular city, visit a resort and pamper yourself with a massage or facial. This will not last for more than a few hours, but the benefits are tremendous. If your business trip is longer, extend it with a couple of days and visit the region.

Negotiate your rates
You may need to rent a car on your destination. If you talk to the customer rep they might be able to provide you with a better car than expected, for a good price. Smile and be polite and you could end up driving a much newer vehicle.

Pick the right flight
Don't pass on a good flight ticket deal just to get mileage points. If you shop around you may find an affordable flight even on business class. Many airlines offer discounts at specific times so keep an eye open for that. The comfort level will stay the same but you will pay less.

Explore the city
Getting to know a new city is always fun. Even if you are traveling for business, take an hour off to see the most important tourist attractions. You will make some nice memories without hurting your business. Check out the casual cafes and restaurants nearby your hotel.

Keep yourself comfortable
Everyone has a few things they love. Take your favorite scented candles and book with you in order to feel at home. The familiar items will bring comfort and help you feel more relaxed.

Bring a friend
A trip is always more fun in good company. Ask around to see if any of your friends is available to join you. Many hotels and airlines offer discounts for people who travel together so you might even save some money.

Get Internet access
Make sure your hotel provides an Internet connection at all times. Staying connected while doing business is crucial, and using the resort's wi-fi will be less costly. Plus, you could relax by watching a funny video anytime you're tired.

Get local food
Street vendors are a great way to get to know the area's culinary style. You will not spend a lot of money and it will feel more like a vacation rather than a business trip.

Don't get sick
Bring a hand sanitize with you and make sure to avoid dirty places. Getting sick will impact your business negatively, which is something you want to stay away from. If you stay at a hotel, wipe the tables in your room off in order to remove any germs.

Get rid of the jet lag
No matter how busy your day is, sleep for a couple of hours upon arrival. Your mind will become clearer and thus business negotiations will also be smoother.
